The Highway Code is effectively all you should need to answer the Multiple Choice Questions in the Theory Test however there are additional products and materials that will help you pass tests first time round and ultimately become a safe and confident driver.  It would be foolish of me to advise you on specific products to use for Theory preparation as everyone is different and therefore learns new things in different ways.  As such, I recommend that you individually review the products that are available on-line and in the high street.

Advice that I can give because it is applicable to everyone at this stage is not to underestimate the time it will take you to prepare for your Theory Test.  Therefore plan this into your future day to day life and consider this when choosing your study materials.  For instance, if you travel currently by public transport, then these journeys can double up as study periods with a traditional paper copy of The Highway Code as opposed to interactive CD-Rom and DVD versions that can only be used when you are at home.

You should also seek guidance from people you know who are also studying or have recently passed as there is potential here for you to share materials or buy quality second hand versions, (providing they are the most recent versions).

From a practical test perspective, I definitely advise The Official DSA Guide to Driving – The Essential Skills as good reading material (and that's for every motorist, not just learners).  It is available on-line at the DSA official bookstore.

For specific advice regarding the Theory or Practical Tests please ask during a lesson.
